Addressing Heat and Air Quality in Phoenix

What: Participants will learn about key urban sustainability challenges related to urban heat, water and air quality as well as proven solutions and tools available to affect change in their community. The Academy provides opportunities to build relationships with others in their cohort through a series of live discussions, while also giving participants the ability to learn at their own pace. It is free and will be offered in both Spanish and English.
 
Who: On some days, there are neighborhoods that are as much as 13°F hotter than others. These neighborhoods are also have the highest percentage of child poverty in the Valley and have the lowest percentage of tree canopy. This unique program aims to build the capacity of 40 residents living in neighborhoods in the Phoenix Metro Area impacted by heat inequities to advocate for heat-reducing, nature-based solutions.
 
When: The first day of the program is Saturday July 24, 2021 and the program is designed to last 5 months.
