DIG - Olla: Alternative Watering
DIG - Olla: Alternative Watering
Do you have an area in your garden that doesn’t have drip lines, yet you want to plant annuals and perennials there? Gardeners can apply ancient and modern techniques, such as ollas and wicking, to bring water to their gardens and landscapes without using traditional flood or drip irrigation. You will also learn about modern vertical and horizontal porous pipe systems, and curb cutting. During the class, you will make your own olla to take home.
Participants will learn:
- Identify and define several alternative watering systems.
- Describe the pros and cons of using these systems.
- Examine ways that participants can apply alternative watering systems to their landscape.
- Create their own olla (auto watering vessel) to use in their landscape.
- Understand how to install and use the olla in their landscape.
