Many insects are present in our gardens and most are beneficial or cause minimal damage to plants. It is important to recognize the beneficial insects as they prey on the more destructive insects that eat flowers and vegetables. Where insects become problematic, it is important to use integrated pest management methods to control insect pests, and not resort to using insecticides that can harm beneficial insects.
