River Run Network Clean Up: Along Santa Cruz River at Irvington Rd

The Santa Cruz River has a rich cultural and ecological history that grounds us in this watershed and the city of Tucson. There are stretches of the river where effluent flow is being released, and water flows year round, the Irvington Outfalls is another example of this. The Tucson Airport Remediation Project (TARP) releases clean, recycled water into the Santa Cruz River and creates a vibrant flowing stream. This site is an example of Tucson Water's PFAS remediation efforts. Located on the west side of Tucson, it’s a beautiful area to help clean up our river and learn about the positive impact effluent flow has on our creeks and rivers. It’s important that we keep trash and pollution out of our creeks for the health of our watershed and all the plants and animals in our riparian areas. The River Run Network has Flow365 Monitors along this stretch, so come explore the Santa Cruz River with other RRN members while also cleaning up this creek and making it a cleaner place.

This would be a great event to bike to and explore other stretches of the creek along The Loop!

This event is organized through WMG’s River Run Network (RRN). Members work together to learn about and steward our creeks and rivers through creek walks, restoration activities, river clean-ups, and educational workshops. If you are not yet a member, we will add you to the RRN when you register for this event. Membership is free and includes a regular e-newsletter with upcoming events.
