River Run Network Restoration Workshop: Empire Gulch

River Run Network Restoration Workshop: Empire Gulch

Feb 26 2022 - 9:00am
Join our restoration efforts in Empire Gulch! James Lauder, WMG Project Manager, needs your help to continue creating erosion control features and plant native plants. Empire Gulch is a tributary to Cienega Creek, a creek in Pima County's Cienega Creek Natural Preserve. We will be working to slow the flow and help it sink into the ground by planting native bunch grass species and native trees as well as modifying and creating erosion control structures in this area. As a wildlife and riparian preserve, the Cienega Preserve is home to an astonishing array of plants and animals, including numerous bat-roosts (cave myotis, Mexican long-tongued bat, Townsend's big-eared bat and canyon bats.

This event is organized through WMG’s River Run Network. If you are not yet a member, we will add you to the Network when you register for this event. RRN membership is free and gives you access to a variety of virtual, dispersed, and physically distanced events including creek walks, restoration activities, river clean-ups, and educational workshops.

This restoration project is made possible thanks to grant funding through Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
