River Run Network Restoration Workshop: Pantano Jungle

River Run Network Restoration Workshop: Pantano Jungle

Oct 28 2021 - 12:15pm
After a very wet monsoon with lots of flow, it’s time to go back to our restoration projects in the Cienega Creek area and make adjustments. Join Catlow Shipek, WMG co-founder, and Charlie Alcorn, Program Manager and Educator, to assess how erosion control features at the Pantano Jungle restoration site faired through the 3rd wettest monsoon on record. Pantano Jungle is along Cienega Creek in Pima County's Cienega Creek Natural Preserve near Vail. We will be modifying existing rock structures to enhance restoration of the creek and riparian areas. As a wildlife and riparian preserve the Cienega Preserve is home to an astonishing array of plants and animals, including lowland leopard frogs, Gila topminnows, turkeys, lions, bears, and coatis.

This restoration project is made possible thanks to grant funding through Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

This event is organized through WMG’s River Run Network. If you are not yet a member, we will add you to the Network when you register for this event.
