Wild, Wild WEST: The New UA Center for Water Research, Technology and Innovation

Apr 26 2017 - 12:00pm to 1:30pm

From 2011 to 2015 the University of Arizona and Pima County Wastewater collaborated on a UA presence in a Pima County Water Reclamation Campus. This resulted in the new Water and Energy Sustainable Technology Center (WEST), paid for and constructed by Pima County Wastewater. WEST is an institutional UA Center under the guidance of Research, Discovery & Innovation (RDI). WEST epitomizes the concept of public/private partnerships with research funded by utilities, private sector companies, and industry. UA faculty at WEST specialize in advanced treatment and detection of emerging microbial and chemical contaminants in municipal wastes and reclaimed water. WEST is also a member of the team that won the 2016 Arizona Water Innovation Challenge.
